![]() ![]() With an innovative helmet camera view simulating the physical experience of driving at 200mph, the thrilling experience of night. We will be able to check out Need for Speed: Shift 2 Unleashed on March 29, when it's going to be launched on the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed Demo SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED features an all-new rendering engine with a massive graphics overhaul that puts the player in the heart of the racing action. Autolog is an all-new feature that puts all of. The original game, while not being a true blockbuster title, impressed a lot of people and simulator fans, so it's up to Shift 2 Unleashed to really drive the point home and establish the Shift series as a contender to other franchises. You can also manually check for previous titles by selecting NEED FOR SPEED VIP from the Extras menu. Simulators can become extremely boring, no matter their technical achievements (see Gran Turismo 5), so Shift 2 Unleashed's promise of delivering a great yet realistic experience sounds extremely good. Last but not least, NFS: Shift 2 Unleashed will implement the Autolog online feature once more, after last year's NFS: Hot Pursuit, in order to create an immersive online and social experience, beyond the classic multiplayer modes seen in previous racing games. Shift 2 also adds day and night races in prestigious events like the FIA GT1 or GT3 championships, not to mention a wide array of races that combine old and new cars from the list of 130 vehicles that will take place in over 50 different race tracks from across the world. What's more, EA promises that Shift 2 Unleashed will finally add excitement to the simulator genre, and defeat "bland and sterile" franchises like Gran Turismo or Forza Motorsport, which are already well established and have a loyal fan base. The game will overhaul the in-cockpit view seen in the first Shift, adding new types of movements seen with actual drivers, and really make players feel like they're in an actual race car. The title will upgrade the original Shift, released two years ago, and showcase just how talented the team at Slightly Mad Studios is. This morning's press release says to expect the game in "spring 2011," which is pretty close to the previously reported Q1 2011 window.Electronic Arts' Need for Speed franchise is set to receive a new installment in its simulator-oriented spinoff series, Shift, in the form of Need for Speed: Shift 2 Unleashed. The game is being built by racing veterans, and Shift developers, Slightly Mad Studios for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. EA calls it the "next generation" of the stats-driven friendship killer - though, with less than half a year between both iterations, let's say we're skeptical of that claim. In its place is Autolog, the excellent, always-connected enhancement that Burnout-dev Criterion brought to Hot Pursuit. an in-helmet camera, night-time racing and the Autolog feature. In doing so, EA has dropped the "Need for Speed" half of the title (though the debut trailer, found after the break, still puts the game squarely in the NFS series, even using Hot Pursuit's n-shaped logo). Shift 2: Unleashed features over 145 cars and over 36 different tracks, online gameplay. Today, on Need for Speed Hot Pursuit's big day, EA has stolen some of that thunder by announcing Shift 2 Unleashed, the sequel to last year's simulation-style installment. What better day to announce a new entry in a long-standing franchise than the release date for what is, arguably, the best installment in the series to date. ![]()
